A Fearless Death
Half Day Course
Sunday, May 27, 2018
9:30 am-12:30 pm
Bodhichitta Kadampa Buddhist Centre
970 Blanshard St, Victoria, BC
We are alive, therefore we will die. This is the simplest, most obvious truth of our existence, yet very few of us have really come to terms with this fact. We often think of death as simple extinction, but in truth, death occurs when our very subtle mind departs this body and moves on, bound for future lives. In this course, we can develop an understanding of death that deeply empowers us to have a happy and meaningful life, and at the same time prepare for the journey ahead. Through this understanding we can also help others and understand that death is not something to be feared or denied, but can become a positive experience.
During this half-day course, we will gain an understanding of the benefits of studying death; review the cycle of death, intermediate stage and rebirth including basics of “throwing karma”; begin to understand how it is that only our practice of dharma can help us at the time of death; and experience a meditation that will help us understand and prepare for our own death.
This class is open to everyone and requires no previous experience, just an open mind. It is not required to sit on a cushion – both chairs and cushions will be provided.
