How to be happy all the time and live a meaningful life
From the depths of our heart, we want to be happy all the time and live a meaningful life. How can we do this? We can do this through training in meditation. Meditation makes our mind peaceful, and when our mind is peaceful we are happy, even if our external conditions are poor. The Kadam Lamrim teachings and meditations open our heart and deepen our understanding and experience of the spiritual path. Suitable for both beginners and more experienced practitioners.

Each class includes guided meditation,teaching and time for questions. Seating is on chairs or cushions and no special clothing is required.
Come a few minutes early or stay afterwards to browse our selection of books designed to help your meditation become meaningful.
If you are coming from work and will be running a few minutes late, that is fine, we understand. Please just enter quietly and pay afterwards.
Sept 5 – 26 How to develop and maintain a peaceful mind all the time
Through the practice of meditation we can develop and maintain a peaceful mind all the time. If our mind is peaceful all the time, we will be happy all the time. So if we really wish for ourself and others to be happy all the time we must learn to practice meditation.
Oct 3 – 24 How to overcome our anger through practicing patience
Anger is one of the most common and destructive delusions, and it afflicts our mind almost every day. To solve the problem of anger, we first need to recognize the anger within our mind, knowledge how it harms both ourself and others, and appreciate the benefits of being patient in the face of difficulties.
Oct 31 – Nov 21 Past and Future Lives
If we understand the nature of mind, we can also understand the existence of past and future lives. Many people believe that when the body disintegrates at death, the continuum of the mind ceases and the mind becomes non-existent, like a candle flame going out when all the wax has been burned. However this idea is completely wrong. Our body and mind are separate entities, and so even though the body disintegrates at death, the continuum of the mind remains unbroken. Instead of ceasing, the mind simply leaves the present body and goes to the next life.
Nov 28- Dec 12 Samsara- The cycle of impure life
What does taking rebirth in samsara mean? It means that in each of our lives due to ignorance we grasp our body or mind as our self, thinking, ‘I’ ‘I’, where there is no I, or self. Through tis we experience the sufferings of this life and countless future lives as hallucinations endlessly.
Sachi Tamura is a member of the Teacher Training Program at the Bodhichitta Buddhist Centre. She has been active in the Kadampa community since 2008 and has been our branch teacher for Esquimalt since 2011. Sachi enjoys sharing with students the practical application of Buddha’s teachings.

Discount $40 for 5 classes. The class credits can be used for any other class at the centre – ie, currently, Monday and Wednesday nights or Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and Thursday mornings.
Free for Centre Card holders.
We are a registered, non-profit, charitable organization.
All class fees and donations are used to support the spiritual activities of Bodhichitta Buddhist Centre.
Do I have to be a Buddhist to benefit from meditation?
No. Anyone can learn basic meditation and experience the benefits that come from having a peaceful mind. Buddhists respect all people and are happy to help anyone regardless of whether they subscribe to another faith, or to none.
Do I need to have experience in meditation or Buddhism to attend the classes?
No. All you need is the wish to improve yourself and the quality of your life.
What do I need to bring to class?
Nothing in particular; however, if you wish to take notes bring a pen and notepad.
How should I dress for class?
No special clothing is required. We recommend wearing something comfortable.
Do I have to sit on the floor?
No, we meditate sitting on chairs, but you are welcome to bring your own mat and/or cushion if you prefer.
