How to be happy all the time and live a meaningful life

From the depths of our heart we want to be happy all the time and live a meaningful life. How can we do this? We can do this through training in meditation. Meditation makes our mind peaceful, and when our mind is peaceful we are happy, even if our external conditions are challenging. Buddha’s teachings and meditations open our heart and deepen our understanding and experience of the spiritual path. In January and February we will be focusing on Developing Compassion. Suitable for both beginners and more experienced practitioners alike.

Everyone is welcome to learn more about meditation and positive thinking.
Each class includes guided meditation, a teaching, and time for questions. Seating is on chairs and no special clothing or pre-registration is required.

Bike Parking Information: There are 4 bike racks in the adjoining plaza area (near the library entrance) and 2 bike racks on the first garage level near the ticket booths (walk your bike down the garage ramp.)

We are near 2 City Parking Garages and the City On Street Parking rates are shown on the map below. Both are free after 6 pm and on Sundays. The first hour in the Parking Garages are free. Free on street parking is available for 1-2 hours on most of the unmarked streets (You only have to walk a couple of blocks). There are also Robbins and City run surface lots nearby with posted costs.

Deborah Mabee is the Administrative Director of Bodhichitta Buddhist Centre, a member of the Teacher Training Program and an experienced teacher of dharma.

She was the branch teacher for Langford for many years. She is currently teaching a new class on Thursday mornings at the Centre that is excellent for those new to Buddhism. Deborah’s teachings are always practical and easy to apply to everyday life. Deborah is well loved for her warm and welcoming presence and inspiring enthusiasm for Buddha’s teachings.

We are a registered, non-profit, charitable organization.
All class fees and donations are used to support the spiritual activities of Bodhichitta Buddhist Centre.

Do I have to be a Buddhist to benefit from meditation?
No. Anyone can learn basic meditation and experience the benefits that come from having a peaceful mind. Buddhists respect all people and are happy to help anyone regardless of whether they subscribe to another faith, or to none.

Do I need to have experience in meditation or Buddhism to attend the classes?
No. All you need is the wish to improve yourself and the quality of your life.

What do I need to bring to class?
Nothing in particular; however, if you wish to take notes bring a pen and notepad.

How should I dress for class?
No special clothing is required. We recommend wearing something comfortable.
