Turning the Wheel of Dharma Day
June 4th is Turning the Wheel of Dharma Day – It is both the Anniversary of Buddha Shakymuni’s first teachings in this world (known as the First Wheel of Dharma) and the Birthday of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, the Founder of the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union.
To commemorate this special day, Kadampa Buddhist centers around the world hold special events with prayers for Buddha’s teachings to flourish in this world for a very long time.
At our Centre we have just put up the full size version of this beautiful poster celebrating many of the actions Geshe-la has taken to make sure dharma continutes to thrive in this world.
We invite you to come by the Centre at one of our class times and see the poster in person.
On June 4th, we invite you to attend one of our regular Wednesday classes ( 12:15 at Bastion Square, 7:00 pm at Cook Street Village and 7:15 pm at Esquimalt Rec Centre) or attend special prayers called Heart Jewel including a meditation on our spiritual guide. This will only take about 45 minutes and will begin at 7:00 pm.
